Class Descriptions


This class will teach you the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series.

The Ashtanga Primary Series is called Yoga Chikitsa, meaning yoga therapy, because of the cleansing and toning effect it has on both body and mind.  On a physical level the asanas (poses) of the Primary Series build strength and flexibility in the body, loosening tight muscles and realigning and detoxifying the body and nervous system. The series begins with forward bends, then twists and hip openers with a vinyasa between each asana.

On a mental level, through regular practice, focus, willpower, mind-body awareness and confidence are improved as we overcome the mental obstacles to our practice. On a subtle level the Primary series works therapeutically to clear obstacles in the energy channels in the body (known as Nadis).

This clearing of obstacles allows the Prana to flow more freely so the body and mind are therefore allowed to work more effectively.


Basics is a welcoming class for beginners, with clear instruction and simple sequences. Those with more experience will be able to go deeper into their practice with guidance from the teacher.

Beyond Basics

Beyond Basics explores the breath and a wide range of yoga postures. This is a transformative class that will allow you to take the basics of Yoga and go slowly and safely to practice more challenging poses and sequences. Experience helpful, but all levels are welcome to this class.


Whether you are a beginner or an advanced meditator, you will enjoy this meditation class. The main intention in this hour and a half is to create a strong energy within the group setting which will support your private practice. The class will include energy exercises, chakra breathing, chanting and meditation, creating a solid foundation to access sacred space. Taught by Suzanne Michelle Hill.

Moving Toward Restorative

Moderate yoga sequences and meditation comprise the first part of the class. Props, timed static holds and breathing applications establish the restorative portion. Emphasis is on whole body wellness and self-care. Reiki is offered during savasana at the end of the first class of each month. Good for all levels.

Prana Flow

Utilizing the breath-PRANA-life force to guide our sadhana into fluidity, mudra, mantra, kriya, greater embodiment, inner meditation and movement meditation. Challenging and appropriate for all levels of yoga practitioners.


With roots in ancient Chinese culture, Qigong, or chi kung, is a practice of aligning body, breath, and mind for health and meditation. The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong/chi kung are thought to help reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system.

Like a boat on the ebb and flow of the tide, Qigong/chi kung administers its soothing application of breathing and moving with no resistance. The principal of allowing the forward momentum of the wave while together receiving the returning undertow is the tantamount expression of each exercise performed.

Skillful Vinyasa

Skillful Vinyasa is a challenging class, incorporating movement initiated by the breath. Instructions on alignment will be given along with variations of postures suggested for intermediate and/or advanced students. Class will start with conditioning and warming up the body, and move through standing, balancing, and seated postures. Inversions and backbends may be practiced. Appropriate for students who wish to gain flexibility, stamina, and endurance in a safe and lighthearted environment.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is based on the idea that mind, body and emotion are not separable. Consisting of 124 movements, it is performed in a slow, rhythmic, continuous motion which relaxes the body and helps promote blood circulation. It strengthens muscles and joints and while it develops concentration and awareness, it helps relieve fatigue, tension and stress.

Tai Chi is a complete physical exercise bringing stimulation and health to all parts of the body. It may be taken up by anyone regardless of gender, age or health.

The Art of Yoga

This post-lineage yoga class explores many aspects of yoga, employing a whole body approach to health and wellness. The class will incorporate flow of movement, biomechanics, resistance training, and also challenge old-school yogic alignment cues, improve flexibility through strengthening, utilize clever prop placement to enhance range of movement – all with a good bit of magic!

Yin Restorative

Yin Restorative is a cross between what is usually called “yin” and what is often simultaneously called “therapeutic” yoga or “restorative” yoga. It is a slightly more supported version of a more traditional yin class and will offer you a chance to rest and renew.

Yin Yoga

Yin, or Taoist Yoga, focuses on the more Yin parts of the body which are the bones, ligaments and connective tissues, particularly those that make up and support our center core in the pelvis and low back. The postures are held for long periods, usually 5 minutes, with acceptance and ease, allowing deep release.

Yoga for Everybody

All Levels is a Hatha yoga class perfect for any level student; the pace will be adjusted accordingly.

Pranayama (breath and energy expansion) techniques, asana (postural), and meditation techniques will be blended to create a setting for deep introspection and awareness.

This class is ideal for learning stress relief methods, for balancing energy, and for overall health. A flow of postures and variations of Sun Salutations will be offered to warm and energize the body, moving from standing and balancing poses to seated poses, and ending with a supine meditation.

Yoga for Well-being

This class is a light, playful approach to movement that will enhance fluidity and balance while awakening creativity. Elle offers many variations throughout that enable you to tailor the practice in a way that feels right for your individual body. Each class is designed as a journey to a pose or series of poses using breath awareness, internal heat, and mindful pacing. The true goal is to experience the joy of movement and the ease it brings to life off the mat.

Yoga Express

This “express” 60-minute class is designed for those who are short on time and high on desire to get more practice in during the week. Suited for mixed levels, the hour format will focus on moving mindfully at a moderate pace to elevate and help sustain energy … our kind of happy hour.

Yoga Night

Yoga Night is for you to tune into your sadhana. The 90-minute class will be a mix of yoga styles such as yin, vinyasa flow, and restorative. You will be given the time and encouragement to explore what each asana has to offer you. All levels (including beginners!) welcome. 

Yoga Series for Beginners

Our four-week series is designed for a new beginner or for those who wish to begin again, and is scheduled 2-3 times per year.
Bring an open mind and wear comfortable clothes – that’s all you’ll need.

Week 1 Stand & Sit Tall: Defining alignment from the ground up.
Week 2 Shoulders & Hip Openers: Stretch and strengthen the muscles of the upper body & release lower back tension by opening the hips and pelvic region.
Week 3 Unwind the Spine: Mobilize the back through twists and gentle backbends.
Week 4 Breath and Meditation: Practices to relax and restore the body.
